About Us

Our Story

We're not a property management company. We're a family who loves this house, this town, and the guests who become part of its story.

Chad and Stephanie's family, three generations together at Christmas

Our Family

Chad, Stephanie & Annie

Chad grew up on the west side of South Bend, in a home built on love, nurture, and memories. His dad was president of Northwest Little League. His mom raised three kids, volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House near Memorial Hospital, and cleaned houses on the side for years, all while still finding time to play catch in the backyard.

Chad and I met in Pittsburgh more than fifteen years ago, and it wasn't long before his mom became the kind of mother figure I'd always hoped for. Somewhere in those years, a quiet goal took shape: buy a home back in South Bend, close to family, close to where it all began.

Grammy was the reason we first dreamed about coming back to South Bend, a way to be closer to her and to give our family more reasons to visit. Then in 2020, our daughter Elsie was born, right as the world shut down. It cost us a year we couldn't get back, a year Grammy didn't get to spend with her newest grandchild the way she should have. That loss is what finally motivated us to finish what we'd started. In 2021, we packed up more U-Hauls than we can count, driving back and forth between Pittsburgh and Indiana to remodel this house room by room, so Grammy could see her family a little more often along the way. We named the finished house after the little girl who motivated it all: Elsie. Her name is where "LC" comes from, a sweet little play on words, since it's also short for "Lucky Charm."

Grammy was the heart of our family. Hosting here meant more trips home, more time with her, and more reasons to come back. We lost her in November 2025. If you've ever booked a stay with us, thank you, because your visit is part of the reason we got to spend that extra time with the person who meant the most to us.

Today it's just the three of us running things: Chad, myself, and our niece Annie, who helps manage the home locally. We want The Lucky Charm to feel a little special, but we'll never pretend it's perfect. A light bulb might go out, a pillow might go missing, a lock might act up now and then. What we can promise is a home that's genuinely loved, and we hope you feel that the moment you walk in.
